San Diego Padres and South Coast Surfboards Team Up

San Diego Padres Has a Special Request For South Coast Surfboards

On February 9th, 2013, Everth Cabrera and Chase Headley were presented with two custom surfboards for the Padres Annual Awards Banquet. We teamed up with Headline Graphics to custom make these boards. Headline Graphics took a digital print on a piece of cloth and glassed the image into these South Coast Old School Fish. Its a fairly new process to glass digital pictures on surfboards and I’m sure we will see this technology increase. This isn’t the first time we had a request from the Padres. Just last year, San Diego Padres honored living legend, Chipper Jones, with a South Coast surfboard. Tonight is San Diego home opener. Let’s cross our fingers for the best year yet! Go Padres!

Oakley Surf Shop Challenge 2013

Employees and Team Riders Participate in Oakley’s Surf Shop Challenge

On Friday, April 4th 2013, we headed up to Seaside Reef in Cardiff for Oakley’s annual Surf Shop Challenge. We had team riders and employees team up to form 2 South Coast teams. There were 17 teams in all for the Southwest region. Oakley’s Surf Shop Challenge takes place in 7 different regions. The winner of each region will advance to the Oakley Pro in Bali. South Coast put up a tough fight considering the conditions that day but weren’t able to pull the #1 spot. We are still proud of you guys!

Its that time of the year- BBQ time!

Last Friday, our wonderful shop owners thought it would be a great day for a BBQ in Ocean Beach! We hit up Costco, rolled out the grill, and got our BBQn’ on! Here are some pictures from the day!

Ryland Rubens Takes 3rd in Boys U14 American Prime event at Uppers

South Coast Team Rider Ryland Rubens

South Coast team rider Ryland Rubens has been blowing up lately. After recently returning from scoring some big waves in Hawaii he is welcomed back to California with sunny skies, light offshore wind and waist- to chest-high-plus reeling righthanders at Uppers. He managed to place 3rd in the Boys Under 14 group just behind 1 – John Mel – Newport Beach
2 – Eithan Osborne – Ventura.

Ryland has been making a lot of heats lately as well as freesurfing all over places like Nicaragua, Hawaii, and Indo.
