Ryland Rubens pulls off his first Open victory of the season at the Seaside Reef Open Boys division.
He also advanced all the way to the semi finals of the difficultly contested Juniors U16. Rubens, currently 12 years old, enjoys stepping up a bracket because he says it pushes him harder and he can learn from the older surfers which makes him surf better. Ryland has also had three strait victories in the Explorer Menehuenes to top it off.
A Pacific Beach San Diego local, Rubens 6th grade, maintains a 3.6 GPA which makes this well-rounded surfer a true role model for all young surfers with a great future. Awesome work Ryland.

2011 Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco
The 2011 Rip Curl Pro Search starts November 1st in Ocean Beach, San Francisco.

The 2011 Rip Curl Pro Search is the only ASP event with a “floating license” on tour. The “floating license” allows Rip Curl to change locations year-to-year. This years location provides diverse conditions that will challenge the world’s best surfers. The event will take place between stairwell 20 at VFW’s north to Kelly’s Cove.

Make sure you don’t miss out on the event of the summer at South Coast Surf Shops in Pacific Beach. Our newly renovated shop features a ton of new build-outs that have really transformed the shop into a whole new beast. The party starts at noon and will stay live until dark closing with a Rip Curl Video Premier of “Float” in the parking lot.
If your going to make it down you won’t want to miss LIVE MUSIC from one-man-band Low Volts at 5pm playing after Austin Burns at 3pm. BBQ and beverages will be provided so come down and have a drink, listen to some music, make some friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Primo is in the house.

Today marks Sector 9′s 6th annual Go Skateboard Day Poker Run. The event kicks off today at 12pm with registration of the first 100 people at crown point park. The free registration entails receiving your first of four cards along the 3.5 mile way to the south Mission Beach jetty. The skate starts at 2pm and activities will continue in Mission Beach until 5pm. Whoever has the best poker hand at the end of the push wins cash prizes and brand new skateboards from Sector 9. Free food for all participants from Wahoo’s Fish Tacos along with more fun games at the jetty on the beach.
If you’re lucky enough to take the day off work then get down the Crown Point Park and pick up your first card. Bring all your luck and any skateboard will do and come join the fun.
Helmets are not required for this event although safety is always a concern and we always recommend you wear helmet when skating. Skate safe. Skate smart.
