That time a year again when the U.S. Open of Surfing rolls through Huntington Beach turning the streets, pier and beach into an absolute surfing zoo! South Coast will be there and we hope you will be too. Huntington is notorious for smaller surf for the contest which makes surfers like us always wonder why they schedule the contest in the summer and not winter. At least there is no harm in hoping for swell so that the world’s top surfers have a venue to show what separates them from all the rest of us out there. Regardless the atmosphere in HB is riddled with surf culture and you are guaranteed to be stoked on the outrageous amount of free energy drinks being handed out.
As far as the actual schedule of events the contest runs from July 31st until August 8th. You can watch live online at usopenofsurfing.com/live.cfm with up to the minute heat information and scores. When planning your trip to the US Open this year make sure you remember southcoast.com for ALL your surfing needs.
Make sure you follow the Billabong J-Bay Pro July 15th thru 25th taking place in Jeffreys Bay South Africa. Watch it online at billabongpro.com and for ALL your other surfing needs shop southcoast.com between the heats. Supertubes all around!
