South Coast Windansea Upstairs Remodel Complete

By Robb Bailey

The South Coast Windansea surf shop of a few months ago was a great shop. Plenty of rashguards, leashes and gear to get you stoked for your glass-off session at Crystal Pier. Plus a surfing-savvy staff to help you get into the right equipment to boot.

But just because you’re used to seeing the same great thing every day doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. Well guess what?…

South Coast Windansea just got a whole lot better.

The new and improved South Coast Windansea boasts a brand-new upstairs with over 1,000 square feet of wetsuits, neoprene vests, jackets, booties, rashguards, lycra, and anything else you can think of that’s wetsuit-related. That’s bigger than most San Diego resident’s entire apartment.

Don’t know where the upstairs is? Just walk into the Windansea location, go past the counters, and hang a right. One flight of stairs and you’ll find what has recently been turned into San Diego’s premiere selection of wetsuits.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s going on upstairs:

  • Over 600 square feet of new area
  • 500 wetsuits, over 1,000 neoprene pieces total to choose from
  • Rip Curl, Billabong, Quiksilver, and O’neill brands
  • Offering complete warranty services, bring in your defectives
  • Three oversized dressing rooms with Air Conditioning – No Sweat!
  • Larger inventory of travel and board bags from Dakine, FCS, and Sticky Bumps

Eric “Bird” Huffman commented, “We’ve increased our wetsuit selection dramatically, and the remodel has increased surfboard availability.”

Indeed it has.

Now wetsuit-free, the downstairs has space for a larger surfboard inventory. Let’s face it, when shopping for a new board or wetsuit, the main goal is to find what you want: Get in, get out. The new layout helps you stay focused on your purchase with plenty of space and comfort.

That means it’s easier to find what you want faster. Next time you’re in the area, stop in and see the facelift. South Coast Windansea’s new improvements are well-implemented and have shown that they continue to understand what surfers look for in a core surf shop.
