Working with their team rider, Gabriel Medina, FCS has just released their newest fin. The FCS II GM in their Athlete Series is looking to be the new go-to fin for all conditions! Click here to learn more.
“THE NEW FCS II GM ATHLETE SERIES FIN COMBINES THE VERSATILITY
OF THE PERFORMER TEMPLATE WITH A CUSTOMISED FLEX PATTERN
SITTING BETWEEN PERFORMANCE CORE AND PERFORMANCE
“Much like the Performer, the GM provides a balance of speed, flow and response, which makes it a very reliable, all-round fin. The
customised flex is designed to accommodate not only Gabriel’s dynamic and powerful style of surfing, but the different locations
and conditions he encounters on tour.”

For any locals reading this, you already know that our summer was pretty random! The weather was strange and the waves were pretty hit or miss. South Coast team ride, Jonah Pierce, did his best to make the most of his summer break. Check out how he spent his summer!
This summer has been one to remember, but not much for waves. The water in San Diego has been on average 73 degrees and it has been tropically humid everyday. With this warm water I have been wearing my new Quiksilver AG47, zipperless spring suit. (There’s a picture of some of the new suits below). Quiksilver has really come to a new level of flexibility and comfort with their wetsuits, which makes it easy to have a long and fun session, even with the poor conditions San Diego has seen this summer. Although the waves have been lackluster, some summer spots, such as lower trestles, have been very fun. It is crazy how that wave picks up so much south swell. With the El Niño year commencing it has been throwing S/SE swells to California, which completely skips the southern area of San Diego, so to find some more waves your going to have to drive a bit north to the spots that can pick up southern swells that steep.
Another great part about this summer was the Fourth of July! For this years fourth I went back to where I grew up, Pismo Beach, and did the traditional paddle out for the firework show at the pier. It was great seeing and sharing waves with all my friends under the explosive, colorful sky. (Above is a picture of me surfing at the pier before the firework show). That night was one of the most memorable of my summer because of the nostalgic and picturesque vibes that were in the air.
I hope everyone had a fantastic summer, and found some more waves than I did! I am looking forward to this winter, to see what the El Niño has to offer for the rest of the year!”
